HISTORY
LaPierre
School of Dance was founded by Margaret LaPierre in 1968. Her ideas
and program were simple—to instill the art and joy of dance into
young children.
Margaret
opened her studio in The Knights of Columbus Hall in Reading,
MA. Margaret believed that every dance student should have a
strong ballet foundation. This philosophy continues today at
LaPierre School. In just a few short years, the popularity of Mrs. LaPierre’s
dance program required a move to the studio's current address: 75
Pearl Street, Reading.
One of Mrs.
LaPierre’s first students was Sue Burns (Marroni) who danced at
LaPierre from age 10 through her high school years. Sue continued
at LaPierre as a dance instructor. In 1999, Sue followed in the
dance steps of her teacher, by becoming owner and director of
LaPierre.
Under Sue’s
leadership, the LaPierre School continues Margaret’s vision of
providing a wide range of dance styles and opportunities for all
ages. LaPierre has grown to become one of the most respected,
popular and comprehensive dance studios in New England.
